AGBU Year End Update: Sports Program, Scholarships, Support of Educational and Cultural Programs.

As we fast approach 2020, it is with great excitement that AGBU Toronto is almost ready to welcome you to our new premises at 1 Concorde Gate. With this new space comes incredible opportunity for progression, program enhancement and creating a more tailor-made experience for today’s generation of Canadian-Armenians.

After some leasehold improvements, we are happy to share a few photos at the link below:

AGBU Toronto remains committed and dedicated to its membership and athletes; accordingly, we are happy to announce that we have rented centrally-located gyms across the city to accommodate our member athletes and continue our successful basketball program. We look forward to having our members continue to develop their friendships, sportsmanship and athletic skills under the AGBU name for years to come.

Armen-Ontario of AGBU continues its mission to promote Armenian culture and make a difference in the lives of Armenians in their local communities. Armen-Ontario of AGBU Inc. helped subsidize half of the tuition for 20 students attending St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Saturday School of Toronto. These students are newcomers from the war-torn region of the Middle East. AGBU also donated $5,000 to the Saturday School of St. Gregory’s Armenian Catholic Church. By supporting both Saturday Schools, students are able to engage with their peers as they enhance their cultural identity and language skills. Continuing on the theme of commitment to education, Armen-Ontario of AGBU also presented $20,000 in scholarships to eight hardworking university students.

On the cultural front, AGBU co-sponsored the Komidas concert which was part of the prestigious Koerner Hall annual series. It was a successful event and an exceptional evening.

Together, we hope to continue our mission of creating a community wherein Armenians of all ages are provided with the opportunity to cultivate their heritage within the Canadian diaspora.

With the cumulative efforts across our various volunteer-based committees such as Young Professionals of Toronto, Sports & Youth Committee, and other social / cultural committees, we have the shared responsibility to help fund and support the greater worldwide AGBU mission and its programs including education, Women’s Empowerment program, relief aid and so much more.

We look forward to continued success in 2020!
